Port Renfrew Marina Report July 27/16

Port Renfrew Marina is happy to report that the Chinook have finally hit the beach! Lots of limit catches hit the docks in the past 2 days. All the regular spots are producing fish. Depths are the usual 31 to 43' on the downriggers. Anchovies are the bait of choice but if you find needlefish when you are cleaning try putting out Coho Killers.

Chicken Ranch is as per usual and should continue for another month. We do not have an inshore hali report as of right now as spring fishing is the number one choice!

Notable catches:

  • Len Huot   31
  • Jean Atin   34
  • Hugh hamer  35

sorry for the head chop, don't know why that happened!

Port Renfrew Marina Labor Day Derby; Coming up soon will be the marinas 19th annual Labor Day derby and things are moving along well. We still could use donations or suggestions as to what businesses might want to pitch in and donate. Anyone with a suggestion of a business or person who may be willing to contribute please contact the office and let us know. The success of a derby depends so much on the help from businesses so the funds can be raised for the cause which in this case is the local salmon hatchery and such a deserving cause it is!
